What Is Pecorino Cheese?

There are different types of cheese. Parmesan and Pecorino are two similar Italian cheese types. But there are specific fundamental differences in the cheese types. For starters, Parmesan comes from cow’s milk while Pecorino comes from sheep’s milk. Parmesan has a little bit of saltiness to it, while Pecorino is full-on salty and has a sharp texture to it. Therefore, pecorino cheese is very tasty.

Pecorino is very commonly available in the United States. But the best of them are available in abundance in Italy. Pecorino cheese is a common ingredient in a variety of Italian dishes. Along with some other flavored vegetables, an amazingly simple recipe is created.

Spaghetti Carbonara Italian Pecorino Cheese Style

 A classic Italian Pasta, Carbonara is the ultimate Italian fast food. It is a comforting meal and is enjoyable on all occasions. You can use either Parmesan or Pecorino cheese as the cheese spread.

Ingredients

  • Spaghetti
  • Pecorino cheese
  • Egg yolks
  • Pancetta
  • Garlic
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Direction To Follow

  • While cooking the spaghetti in boiling water for 8 – 10 minutes, mix the pecorino and egg yolks in a small bowl.
  • Keep cooking the pancetta in frying pan till it’s brown and crispy.
  • Transfer the cooked pasta to the pan and add minced garlic. Stir in the egg yolk and pecorino mixture.
  • Mix well and then add black pepper as garnishing.
  • Serve hot with some grated cheese.

Goat And Pork Pecorino Cheese Meatballs

Preparation time: 1 hour 20 minutes

Serves: 6

Pork and goat cheese meatballs make for a delicious dish with a simple tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  • Minced pork
  • Bread
  • Milk
  • Egg
  • Pecorino cheese
  • Salt
  • Goat cheese
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic
  • Tomato slices
  • Olive oil

Directions To Follow

  • Arrange the meatball ingredients in a bowl. Roll the mixture in balls. Refrigerate for a minimum of 30 minutes.
  • For the tomato sauce, fry the garlic and then add the tomatoes. Add salt and black pepper for seasoning.
  • Leave for 20 minutes and wait for the sauce to thicken.
  • Once the meatballs are firm, place them in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook until the balls are brown all over.
  • Add the tomato sauce and put a layer of coating around the meatballs. Heat in the oven for 15 minutes.
  • Serve with parsley and coriander leaves.

Ham Parcels With Peas And Asparagus

Preparation time: 25 minutes

Serves: 6

A tasty little snack before the dinner meal. These soft cheese filled ham parcels melt in the mouth when tasted for the first time. The patches work great with some shredded cheese and a glass of white wine.

  • Asparagus
  • Peas
  • Ricotta
  • Pecorino
  • Ham

Directions To Follow

  • Boil the peas and asparagus in salted boiling water for 10 minutes. Chop the greens with a knife.
  • Make a mixture of the ricotta and pecorino. Add the asparagus and the peas mixture with the cheese. Mix vigorously until it combines.
  • Take a teaspoon of the mixture and place in the ham center. It should look like a tiny parcel.
  • Season with some black pepper and garnish with strips of asparagus.
