How to Clean Baking Sheets

Baking sheets are an integral part of baking. Well, anyone who loves baking already knows that anyway! But, if you are new to the world of baking, the first thing that you should know about, besides the art of baking, is how to clean your baking sheets.

Baking sheets, due to typical use, tend to get dirty easily. The leftovers from the baked items doesn’t get off and is stuck on sheets which turns out to be difficult to remove the dirt and debris, but soaking these baking sheets in cleaners will help. In order to get your baking sheets clean you can use a solution of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Ammonia can also be used for cleaning the sheets. And after soaking your baking sheet, in this solution, the dirt and debris can be cleaned easily when rubbed with steel wool.

Here are some of the ways of cleaning Baking Sheets:

Method 1: Using Baking Soda And Hydrogen Peroxide For Cleaning Baking Sheets

The first step is that you sprinkle some baking soda over the baking sheet. Take some baking soda and sprinkle a light layer of it on the baking sheet. However, the baking soda should be sprinkled in such a way that the whole surface is covered with it.

After sprinkling the baking soda all over the baking sheet now add a layer of hydrogen peroxide on the baking sheets.

In the third step add a second layer of baking soda on the sheet. While doing this you have to cover full sheet with baking soda. Sprinkle the baking soda all over the baking sheet to clean it.

Now, give two hours to the sheets. In order to break down the dirt let the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide soak into the sheet. You can keep the sheets on a flat surface helps.

Once you have done everything, wipe off the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Use wet cloth for the purpose. The debris that was there should come off easily from the pan after it was soaked.

Method 2: Using Ammonia And Steel Wool

Take a big plastic bag to hold the baking sheet and seal the bag completely after adding half a cup of ammonia place on the sheet.

Place the baking sheet outside, in your balcony, and let the sheet get exposed to sunlight as this will help the ammonia to break down the grease and stains on the pan. Since the dirt and debris on the baking sheet takes a day to break down.

Remove the pan from the bag, after a day has passed. However, use a steel wool sponge to scrub down the pan which will remove any built-up dirt, grease.

Before using your pan again, it is important to rinse off the ammonia completely. Rinse it off using water or using a wet rag. All the remaining traces of ammonia should be removed from the pan completely before using it again.
