A bowl of food on a plate

Creamy macaroni and cheese dishes are a staple family meal. It is easy to make, healthy, and good for you. My family enjoys it whenever we have a family reunion. I have even made it for dinner sometimes, although usually just as the children have come home from school. They absolutely love it!

Macaroni and cheese can be enjoyed on its own, or in a creamy sauce. The choice is yours. Most of us have enjoyed a good meal of this comfort food at one time or another. The real key to creating a great meal of this classic food is the basic ingredients and cooking techniques.

Start With The Base Of Low-fat Milk

If you are not a professional cook, you will want to start with a base of low fat milk, preferably four percent. For the cheese, try either goat cheese or cow cheese. The rule of thumb is that if a milk product has more fat than two percent, it should be reduced in the recipe. Another thing to keep in mind is the thickness of the sauce. You do not want the sauce to be too thin that the pasta ends up soupy in the middle. You want a creamy, rich, and creamy mac and cheese recipe.

Once your ingredients are selected and mixed, you are ready to begin the actual cooking. Start by preparing all of your pasta. drain the pasta and set aside. Now it’s time to prepare your cheese sauce.

Blend All The Ingredients Properly

In a large saucepan, or even a smaller sauce pan, the softened cream cheese will form a smooth paste. Add your chopped garlic, chopped parsley, and coarse salt to the mixture and stir until thoroughly blended. Allow the cheese to blend thoroughly until you have a creamy mixture that coats the spoon, not a gritty paste. This is important, because your final dish will be super creamy, and will need to stand up to the pasta.

The Perfect Way To Cook While Saving Time

To cut down on cooking time and maximize flavor, let the mac and cheese mixture cook for about thirty minutes to allow the flavors to meld properly. If you find that the cheese is not blending properly, add another five minutes of cook time. As you can probably tell by now, this is not rocket science. There are no tricks here, just a method that can make your mac and cheese recipe super creamy with minimum cook time.

While your mixture is cooking, you can also add the reserved pasta water and half a cup of your favorite type of salt. I like kosher salt, but feel free to use your favorites. When the cheese sauce has finished cooking, you can remove it from the stovetop and put it in the oven at the recommended temperature. You should see an increase in color and flavor, and the noodles should be done if they look soft and fluffy.

An Alternate Recipe

Here’s one more quick mac and cheese fix that cooks all day long and requires only a stove top thermometer. Cook the pasta in your pasta maker for about two hours, drain them, and then add about one cup of your favorite type of cheese sauce. Bring them to room temperature, open the valve on the top of the pasta maker, and let the pasta cool until it is pliable enough to shape into noodles. Then, scoop out and cut the pasta into bowl shapes. Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

If you are serving it with tomato sauce, cook the pasta and sauce separately until creamy and add the milk. Stir both sauces together, and serve over pasta. This is a wonderful way to use all of your pasta ingredients and have delicious food that is easy to prepare and enjoyable to eat. No matter what you plan to serve your cheeseburgers with, this recipe will get it right. It is the simplest of recipes, and the best solution for quick and easy meals for any occasion.

If you prefer a creamier consistency, you can adjust the liquid you cook the noodles in as well. Just add a little more milk, reduce the heat, and you’ll have the perfect creamy, cheesy sauce. For the best results, use full cream cheese. If you use skim, you’ll likely need to add more milk to make the sauce feel smooth. Add pepper and salt to taste, and you’re all set!

In The End

My family really loves this dish, and I’m sure yours will too. It’s the one comfort food that can be prepared ahead of time and kept warm till you’re ready to serve it. And it’s so easy to make. It really is a wonder that anyone can make this themselves. Now you too can experience the joys of this homemade creamy stovetop macaroni and cheese. Simply adjust your noodles’ cooking time to suit your taste, and serve up a big smile and a big hug (and a few sips of wine) to your friends and family.
